Welcome to Koonung Heights Netball Club
Koonung Heights Netball Club is a community based club dedicated to training girls and boys, women and men to play netball. Our youngest members are in Year 3 or Year 4 at school; our oldest have left school and are studying at university or working.
Koonung Netball Club is a member of the Boroondara Netball Association. Our teams compete against teams from the other members of the association at Macleay Park in Balwyn North. In this competition players are allocated to teams according to their school year level. Within each year level teams are streamed according to ability. With the exception of Year 3 and Year 4 teams (who play on Fridays, after school) all other year levels play on Saturdays starting with the Year 5 teams at 8am. Games continue through the day finishing with the Open Age teams in the late afternoon. The main playing season (Winter) starts in the last few weeks of Term 1 and runs until the end of Term 3. A brief seven week season (Spring Fling) also operates in Term 4.
In recent years Koonung has had over 200 players playing each week, and in each year level we have had at least two teams. Females and males are allowed by the Boroondara Netball Association to play in the same team. Koonung has several mixed teams.
Koonung Netball Club is run entirely by volunteers. The general committee made up of parents and older players looks after the general management and finances of the club. Club teams are coached either by a parent, an open grade player or senior high school player. All coaches are supervised by our two coach coordinators who are members of the general committee.
